Who I am
This website, https://premiersq.co.uk, is run by James Veal, trading as Premier SpeedQuizzing (part of Premier Disco), based in Wallyford, Musselburgh, East Lothian. I am the data controller for the personal information described below, and I handle it in line with UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

What personal information I collect and why
Enquiries and bookings
If you send an enquiry through the contact form on my Contact page, I collect your name, email address, telephone number, the type and date of your event, the venue, approximate guest numbers and your message. I use this only to reply to you, check availability, send a quote and, if you go ahead, organise your event. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and then performing that contract.
The contact form is part of this website and is provided by the WPForms plugin. When you submit it, your details are sent to me by email, and an automatic confirmation email, including a copy of what you sent, is sent to the address you gave. Emails are sent from this website’s server. The form uses built-in spam protection to filter out automated submissions.
If you email or phone me instead, I keep the details you give me for the same purposes.
Reviews and testimonials
If you submit a review through the form on my Leave a Review page, I collect what you enter in the form, which includes your name and your review. With your submission I may publish your review and name on my Testimonials page once I have approved it. The legal basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the form. If you want a review removed, email me and I will take it down.
Comments
Where comments are switched on for a post, I collect the name, email address and website you enter, plus your IP address and browser details to help spot spam. Comments may be checked by an automated spam-detection service (Akismet). An anonymised version of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to see whether you have a profile picture; the Gravatar privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy. Comments and their details are kept until I delete them.
Website usage and analytics
I use Google Analytics and Google Search Console (through the Site Kit plugin) to understand how people find and use the site, for example which pages are visited and which devices are used. This uses cookies and similar technologies and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. I use this information in aggregate to improve the website. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site. You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time by blocking cookies in your browser or by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Security and performance
The site uses Cloudflare for security and to deliver pages quickly, and NitroPack to speed up page loading. These services process technical information such as your IP address when you visit.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. This site and the services it uses may set:
- Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, to count visits and see which pages are used.
- Security cookies from Cloudflare, to protect the site from bots and abuse.
- Embedded content cookies from services such as YouTube and Google Maps on pages where I have embedded a video or map.
- Comment cookies, if you leave a comment and choose to save your name, email address and website for next time. These last one year.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, some parts of the site may not work as expected.
Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content such as YouTube videos or Google Maps. Embedded content behaves in the same way as if you had visited the other website. Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with the embedded content, including if you have an account and are logged in there.
Who I share your information with
I do not sell your personal information. I only share it with the service providers that help me run the website and my bookings, as described above: Google (Analytics and Search Console), Cloudflare, NitroPack, Akismet and Gravatar (Automattic), and my website hosting provider. Some of these providers may process information outside the UK, and where they do they are responsible for appropriate safeguards under their own terms. I may also share information where I am required to by law.
How long I keep your information
I keep enquiry and booking details for as long as I need them to deal with your enquiry or event and, if you book, for as long as I need to keep business and tax records. Analytics data is kept in line with the retention settings in Google Analytics. Comments and reviews are kept until I remove them. You can ask me to delete your information at any time (see below).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask me for a copy of the personal information I hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to how I use it, and to withdraw consent where I rely on it. To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. I may need to keep some information where I am legally required to, for example for tax records.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please contact me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
How I protect your information
The site is served over HTTPS, and access to the website administration and booking system is restricted to me. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but I take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
