The pub quiz — but actually fun for everyone
SpeedQuizzing is a quiz format that replaces pen, paper, and the honour system with technology and real-time scoring on mobile devices. Every player, or team, answers on their own phone or tablet, scores update live on a big screen, and there’s no waiting around for someone to mark sheets.
The result is a quiz night where everyone’s genuinely involved — not just the one teammate who watches a lot of documentaries.
How it works
Players connect to the SpeedQuizzing system over our isolated Wi-Fi using their smartphone and use our purposely designed app.. When a question is asked it shown on the main screen and on their device, and players answer from their device. Answers are locked in instantly, scored automatically, and the leaderboard updates in real time.
That live leaderboard is a big part of what makes it work. Teams can see exactly where they stand after every question. The tension builds. People who were quiet at the start get competitive. The room gets loud.
What a typical night looks like
General knowledge rounds — a broad mix of topics so everyone can contribute something, regardless of what they know well.
Picture rounds — images shown on screen: logos, landmarks, famous faces. Teams discuss and buzz in together.
Music rounds — short clips played through the system. Name the artist, the song, or answer a related question.
Video rounds — video clips played on the big screen used as a base for the questions
High-energy games — Music Bingo, Play Your Cards Right, Chase the Ace, and more. These are the rounds that tend to get the biggest reaction and the most noise.
Every event is different, and rounds can be tailored to suit your audience — whether that’s a corporate crowd, a birthday party, or your regular Thursday pub crowd.

Yes, we have a purpose designed app to connect to our WIFI which offers the full compliment of options for the whole quiz
How many people can play?
SpeedQuizzing is scalable. It works for an intimate group of 20 just as well as a large corporate event of 200 or more.
Can the questions be customised?
Yes. Rounds can be tailored to your industry, your team, a specific theme, or a local area. James has a large question database covering everything from pop culture to Scottish history.
Where do you operate?
Premier SpeedQuizzing is based near Edinburgh and covers events across Edinburgh, Central Scotland, the Scottish Borders, and Fife. Online events via SpeedQuizzing Live are available anywhere.
Can you DJ afterwards?
Yes — James also runs Premier Disco and can extend the night with a DJ set after the quiz wraps up.
