Cuddie Brae SpeedQuiz 14/03/19

March 15, 2019 by JamesV Leave a Comment

The winner this week is new team Creepy Blinders

In yet another very closely fought quiz, Creepy Blinders achieved their first victory at their very first quiz, winning by only 8 points from second place S-A-D. The top 8 teams were separated by just over 150 points so any one of them had a very good chance to win. A couple of questions swing and the whole top 8 could have been very different. Another week’s scoreboard showing the value of the handicapping.

Handicaps

Up until this week I have set the maximum handicap allowance at 500 points no matter what the actual handicaps were. From next week, the actual handicaps will apply regardless of how high they are. This should help to balance out the whole scoreboard.

New Teams

It is always good to welcome new teams and this week we had two. The winners Creepy Blinders and Last Place, who came in 5th, were new this week. I hope you enjoyed the quiz and hopefully you will be back in the coming weeks.

Tonight’s Theme

There was a bit of an Irish theme this week as it is St Patrick’s Day on Sunday. This should have played right into the hands of Dumb & Dumber but they failed to take full advantage. We had one round of questions about Ireland and things Irish but with only a few more challenging questions. We had another round of 20 music tracks from Irish bands or performers. Probably 15 out of the 20 were classic tunes which I expected most teams to thrive on but was later told it was too difficult. Must be a generational thing with the younger quizzers struggling a bit.

Jackpots

Neither of the two Jackpots were won again this week so carry forward to next Thursday. PYCR is now worth £61 and Open The Box has reached a new high of £480. Remember that to take part in the Jackpots you must be part of a team in the quiz.
