Cuddie Brae 14/11/19

The Leasks Do It Again

Another decent turnout again this week despite some of our regulars having a night off.

Freezing cold weather, wind and rain kept some of our regulars away this week but two new teams meant we kept the number of teams in double figures. We had ten teams and some pretty low scoring. Was it too difficult?

The Leasks Dream Teamonce said they would never have a chance of winning
and they were tere just for the fun and banter

The Leasks Dream Team were our winners again this week. I remember them saying they were there for the banter and fun but they now have two good victories to their name thanks to our handicapping.

A low scoring quiz meant that the win was there for the taking. Any team had a decent chance to get their hands on the £25 venue gift card. The Leasks took full advantage and were sitting right at the top of the scoreboard at the end of the normal quiz rounds.

With a lead of only 32 points and with five other teams within range to steal the win from right under their noses, we were ready for the last 100 point question.

    Q. How many times does the word Happy get sung in the song Happy by Pharrell Williams?

With answers varying from 34 to 430, what? and with the Leasks failing to get an answer in it looked like they had thrown it all away by being too slow.

The correct answer was 56 times and the nearest team to the correct answer was Brainless who were 116 points behind. The Leasks were saved by a team too far away to steal their win so were surprised, and relieved when the final scores were revealed.

    New Teams

There were two new teams this week, Team Fluffy and Suffolk and Good. Some pretty good feedback from both of those teams who said it was the best quiz they have ever been to. Thanks guys and I hope to see you again since you stay not too far away.

    Scoreboard

Because of the lower than usual scoring we had a very close end to the quiz. Six teams were in the running to top the table with 114 points covering the first nine of ten teams.

With a last-place finish after their very convincing victory last week were Dumb & Dumber.

    Jackpot Games

Both main jackpots remain intact for another week.

Dumb & Dumber were randomly chosen to play Take It Or Leave It for a £51 jackpot for the second week in a row having won £12 last week. Unfortunately for them, they left with £1.

After making some adjustments to the payout calculations, the jackpot increases to £55 next week.

Our main jackpot game, Open The Box, still has not been won. There was £580 in that box to take away if only the first team could open it. They didn’t and the second team playing for £250 also failed to open the box.

This jackpot carries forward to next week at £600.

Make Sure You Book Your Table

Although there are always a couple of spare tables for teams at the quiz, these are often not where our regulars like to sit. To be absolutely certain to get a good table it is now more important than ever to book it in advance.
