How Did That Happen?
Dumb & Dumber the winners? Yep, they won. I know it is hard to believe but yes, Dumb & Dumber have pulled off another victory at the Cuddie Brae. A £25 venue voucher was the winning prize. Added to that, they also took the nearest wins prize. This week the prize was a scratch card for each player to have a chance to win up to £100,000. As expected, they won nowt!
It wasn’t a very high scoring week which may be a contributing factor to explain why they won the quiz. Maybe lower scoring due to the round on tennis which was not everyone’s favourite.
The Rocks were reduced to 2 players this week with the main guys, not in attendance. This resulted in a very poor end to the quiz by their standards. The good news for The Rocks is that their recent poor performances have increased their handicaps, now ranked fourth with a base handicap of 178. No doubt the handicapping system will be working in their favour and I expect them to be easy winners next time.
Quiz Khalifa made one of their, recently, rare outings and joined us. Doing pretty well and finishing second. There is still a long way to catch up for you guys but a good performance could see you win soon. The Belters have been the surprise team over the past couple of weeks. They have finished well and been inside the golden 100 points zone with a chance of the win.
New Teams This Week
We had 3 new teams this week. None of them doing much on the leader board but they enjoyed their night. Team James finished in seventh place with the Last Minute Headers in 8th. At the foot of the score board were another new team, Dunbar. Don’t let that put you off guys. Our handicapping system ensures every team has as good as an equal chance of winning every time we play. How do you think Dumb & Dumber won, intelligence? Hardly!
Scoreboard
The scores were pretty much grouped close together again. There are distinct sets of groupings with the new teams near the bottom, hardly surprising since they didn’t know anything about how the quiz is run and the disadvantage of not having an accurate handicap. That all changes next time they come along.
Jackpots
For the second week in a row, Take It Or Leave It paid out £1. It came down to either £1 or £54 with the jackpot box being left at the end. All good, this helps us build the jackpot faster for even bigger wins later.
Open the box was left intact at the end of the quiz. The jackpot is now £615 with 13 balls left. The probability of a winner increases every Thursday and it could be soon. After the last two jackpots being won on the final balls, this third jackpot is unlikely to go the full distance.
Our biggest jackpot in the past was £620. I would like to see this record smashed over the next few weeks and hopefully up to £1000 but good luck to you all. £615 is a tidy sum to be going home with.
