Music Bingo Edinburgh is one of the most popular formats at Premier SpeedQuizzing events — and consistently the round that gets the biggest reaction. It takes the familiar structure of bingo and replaces numbers with song clips. Mark off songs as they play. Get a line or a full house before anyone else and shout Bingo.
What is music bingo?
Music bingo (sometimes called musical bingo) is bingo with songs instead of numbers. Rather than a caller reading out numbers, short clips of well-known tracks are played one after another, and you mark off the matching song on your card if it’s there. The first person to complete a line shouts Bingo, and play carries on until someone gets a full house.
Below is an example playlist from one of our Punk Music Bingo nights — just one of over 200 themes available, from decade-specific mixes to film soundtracks and TV themes.
How to play music bingo
- Get your bingo card — a printed card and pen at in-person nights, or a virtual card on your own device for very large audiences and online games.
- Listen as each song clip plays through the PA system.
- If the song is on your card, mark it off — cross it out on paper, or tap it on a virtual card.
- Complete a line first and shout Bingo.
- Keep playing for the full house to win the jackpot.
We run Music Bingo using the Hitmix Music Bingo system, brought to life through screens and a powerful audio system. At in-person nights, I provide printed bingo cards and pens for every player — no app or device needed to play. As each track plays through the PA system, mark off the songs on your card by ear. For very large audiences, or when we’re running the game online, we switch to virtual bingo cards on each player’s own device instead, with the system tracking who’s getting close to a line or a full house in real time — so the tension builds naturally as the game progresses.
Unlike traditional bingo, there’s no caller reading out numbers — the music does the work. The moment you hear the opening bars of a song on your card, mark it off — cross it out on your paper card and pen at an in-person night, or tap it if you’re playing on a virtual card. Get five in a row and shout Bingo. Get a full house and win the jackpot.
Why it works so well
As Verge Magazine recently put it, this kind of night is “loud, it is social, and it is built for a group photo” — here’s why Music Bingo Edinburgh guests can’t get enough of it:
- No music knowledge required — if you recognise the song, you can play. It’s genuinely inclusive for all ages and tastes.
- The pace is relentless — track after track, with the leaderboard screen showing who’s getting close to a line. The tension never drops.
- Music triggers emotion — hearing a song you haven’t thought about in years creates a completely different reaction to answering a factual question. The room comes alive.
- Multiple winners — lines, then full houses, spread the celebration across the room rather than just one table.
Music Bingo at private and corporate events
Music Bingo Edinburgh works brilliantly as a standalone event or as part of a full Premier SpeedQuizzing evening. It’s a natural icebreaker — people who’ve barely spoken all night suddenly bond over recognising the same song at the same moment. Available for pub nights, corporate events, birthday parties, hen parties, charity fundraisers, and wedding receptions. We’ve run it at corporate events including an evening for Lloyds Banking Group at the Scotsman Hotel — it’s consistently one of the most talked-about parts of the night.
Playlists can be themed to suit your event — decade-specific, genre-specific, film soundtracks, TV themes, or a broad mix designed to catch everyone out at least once.

Do I need to know a lot about music to play?
No. If you recognise the song when you hear it, you can play — you don’t need to name the artist or the title, just match the track to your card.
Can music bingo be played online?
Yes. For online games and very large audiences we use virtual bingo cards on each player’s own device, with the system tracking who is closest to a line or a full house.
