The Second Quiz at The Coalgate
Our second visit to The Coalgate saw a reversal of fortunes for the first quiz first and last place teams. Dumb & Dumber, who were first at the last outing, came in in last place. Windae Lickers, last before, won the day with a narrow victory.
Handicapping
The impact of the handicapping was obvious for all to see. With only one previous quiz behind us, the handicaps are still very rough but nonetheless still very important to give every team a chance of a win. Well, how else is a team like Windae Lickers gonna get a win. The fact that School Night Seshers came in second only supports my last comment.
The top 5 teams on the night finished withing 150 points with the last 3 left way behind. We will see it start to balance out over the next few quizzes.
New Round Format
I introduced a new round format for tonight and I think it will be carried forward to every quiz. Buzzing Advanced is a twist on the buzzing round where every team can score points.
I ask a question and the first team to buzz gets the chance to answer. If correct, they get full points. If incorrect, they lose full points. Before being told if they are correct or not, every other team has a chance of either agreeing or disagreeing with the answer. If they answer correctly, they win half points. This looks like the way ahead for the buzzing rounds which are a bit unfair when there are a lot of teams playing.
Jackpot Games
Neither of the jackpot games were won again. They each go forward to the next quiz at The Coalgate at the end of July.
Since this is a new quiz venue I had to put up the prize money myself for these so the Open The Box jackpot will remain at £100 at least for the next quiz. After that, it should become self supporting financially and will increase each time until won. To give you an idea of where this can go, the jackpot for this game at the Cuddie Brae currently stands at £570. The Cuddie Brae quiz is every Thursday at 8pm.
Take It Or Leave It is still a new game to Premier SpeedQuizzing so it is still in testing mode. A win is guaranteed every single time it is played. Previous winners have done pretty well resulting in the cash pot not growing very quickly. Once we have a few low value wins, we should see the jackpot increase. This jackpot is currently at £51.
Handicaps and League Table
As part of the quiz, I keep records of final scores and finishing positions both with and without the handicap being applied. I will be posting these on the PremierSQ Facebook Page each week. Keep an eye open for these to see how you are doing.

No Team Picture
I missed the chance to get a photo of the quiz winning team, it happens! Sometimes that is a good thing, this is one of those times. Windae Lickers? Flat upturned noses, long tongue and dazzled look on their face, believe me, not a pretty sight.
