I was standing in for the usual quizmaster, Stewart Calvert, at Frankensteins again this week. Attending was a very much a student-based group of quizzers; Frankensteins is near Edinburgh University.
Thirteen teams, including the ever-present but this time very uptight Dumb & Dumber, joined me for what ended up being a great night.
Stuck up in the ‘crows nest’ meant I couldn’t do any buzzer rounds or be interactive with the quizzers. No buzzing rounds and no mingling with the quizzers. That didn’t seem to detract from their enjoyment.
The winning team, Yo Tiddy, made comment on how they enjoyed the name the year music round and the observation round about Top Gun.
Scoreboard
With no handicaps in use, the scoreboard covered a big range of scores. It was becoming obvious as the quiz progressed that Yo Tiddy was going to be the winning team. Time after time we kept hearing their buzzer sound. Well done Yo Tiddy and winners of the £50 bar tab. Second-placed, Universally Challenged, won a bottle of fizz.
Always 7th, well they were 7th who would have thought?
It was a straight forward quiz with no jackpot games. Unlike my other quizzes, a lot of the questions were just out of their age bracket. Many of the music questions were a bit before their time but we still had the odd team getting some of them right.
