The Hair Blair Bunch emerged victorious as the first-ever winner of the Ravelston House SpeedQuizzing event!
New Venue Excitement
Our initial gathering at our new Thursday night venue was nothing short of impressive, boasting a full house. Despite a slightly smaller turnout than usual, the competition remained fierce. A heartfelt thank you to all attendees, and I eagerly anticipate welcoming more of our regulars in the weeks to come.
Recognising the growing demand for team spaces, I’m prioritising efforts to enhance capacity. In collaboration with Dean, the proprietor of Ravelston House, we’re working on expanding the venue to accommodate approximately 25 more individuals (potentially 7 additional teams). If all goes according to plan, the extended area will be operational by our next quiz. I’ll also ensure a speaker and monitor are set up, providing a comprehensive experience for those in the expanded space. Dean has even hinted at the installation of a full-sized TV to further enhance the overall experience.
Meet the Winners
The Hair Blair Bunch claimed the top spot on the leaderboard, closely trailed by the Zoo Crew in second place and the Creepy Blinders securing third with a strong finish in the final rounds.
Some of our more seasoned teams found themselves at the lower end of the scoreboard. The Newbies, finishing in last place, will appreciate the modest increase in their handicap. Similarly, the depleted Bells Bairns in second-to-last place and the Scrambled Eggheads in third-to-last place had a challenging evening.
New Team Spotlight
While not exactly a new team, it was good to welcome back the Heroes In A Half Shell after a prolonged absence. It’s been a couple of years since we last saw them, and they marked their return with an impressive 4th place finish. Don’t be strangers, and we eagerly anticipate your swift return.

Nearest Wins Challenge:
The competition was fierce, with three teams poised to clinch victory before the nearest wins question. The question was:
“How many official games did Alex Ferguson professionally manage in his entire career?”
Answer: 2155
The Heroes In A Half Shell secured 100 points with an answer of 2020, securing a 4th place finish.
Worst Team Award
The dubious distinction of the worst team went to the Newbies, who will benefit from an extra 50 points at the start of their next quiz.
Jackpot Games Highlights
Take It Or Leave It: The jackpot reached £84. After a challenging game for the Heroes In A Half Shell, they left with £1 after interference from the Creepy Blinders. The jackpot for the next week is set at £86.
Open The Box: The £310 jackpot in the Open The Box game remained intact, with the next week’s jackpot increasing to £315.
Music Bingo – House Music
This week’s Music Bingo showcased a “House Music” theme, featuring the best house music from the past 35 years. The Heroes In A Half Shell claimed £18 for a horizontal line, while the Zoo Crew celebrated another full house win, taking home £42.
