Second win in a row for the Crusty Jugglers

Intimate Flair and Cost-Cutting with Exams
The latest evening at Edinburgh Street Food unfolded with its usual flair, though this time, the competition was a bit more intimate. With only 18 teams in the mix, it seems the season’s nuances played a role – university exams, budget constraints for festive preparations, and the typical expenses tied to work-related celebrations. Nevertheless, the spirited atmosphere prevailed, making it another memorable night at ESF.
Scoreboard
Winners and the Festive Vibe
For the second consecutive week, the Crusty Jugglers claimed victory, earning themselves a £50 food voucher to relish the delectable offerings at Edinburgh Street Food. Despite the smaller turnout, the competition remained close, adding an extra layer of excitement to the night.
Generosity at its Finest
Securing the second spot, DEMT snagged a 4-pint pitcher of beer, but what truly stood out was their generous gesture. Instead of keeping their winnings, they passed it along to their neighbouring team, Peach, citing them as a source of fun throughout the night. A heartwarming example of camaraderie, demonstrating that, in the spirit of the season, sharing joy can be just as rewarding as winning.
Quirky Teams and Tasty Rewards
Taking the third spot on the podium was “My Drinking Team Has A Quizzing Problem” – a distinct entity from the team with a similar name. Their reward? A satisfying batch of chips for the entire team, adding a delightful touch to their night out.
The smaller turnout didn’t dampen the spirits of the participants. The Crusty Jugglers celebrated their victory, DEMT showcased the true meaning of generosity, and My Drinking Team Has A Quizzing Problem added a quirky touch to the evening. It’s a reminder that, in the heart of the festive season, the joy of camaraderie and shared moments often outweighs the thrill of winning. Here’s to more nights filled with good company, great food, and the unique charm of Edinburgh Street Food.
Adding an Extra Layer of Fun: Handicaps and Numpty Bonuses at ESF Quizzes!
Embracing the spirit of camaraderie and friendly competition at Edinburgh Street Food (ESF), we’re excited to introduce a new twist to our quizzes – a handicapping system. Recognizing the diverse skill levels among our teams, this system aims to level the playing field, ensuring that every team, regardless of their previous performance, has a shot at victory. Our quizzes are all about fun, and the handicapping system is here to add another layer of enjoyment for everyone involved.
How It Works
To implement this system successfully, we kindly request each team to stick to the same team name consistently. This ensures a fair and accurate application of handicaps. The process will kick off promptly at 8 pm, so we encourage all teams to be registered and connected by then. Your commitment to the same team name not only fosters a sense of identity but also contributes to the overall success of this exciting new venture.
Levelling the Playing Field
We understand that competing against seasoned quiz veterans can be challenging, and we want to make sure every team feels they have a chance to shine. The handicapping system will be based on previous performances, to create a more evenly matched playing field. This not only injects an extra element of fun into the quizzes but also encourages the more experienced teams to work a bit harder for their victories.
Numpty Bonus for a Boosted Start
In the spirit of fairness and good-natured competition, we’re introducing the Numpty Bonus – a special 50-point boost for the team finishing last each week. This bonus, coupled with the handicapping system, aims to give every team a fighting chance and ensure that, win or lose, everyone leaves with a smile.
I invite all teams to embrace the excitement of our handicapping system and the Numpty Bonus. Let’s make every quiz night memorable, inclusive, and, above all, fun for everyone involved. Get ready for a more closely contested scoreboard, thrilling finishes, and the joy of occasional victories for all!
See you at ESF every Wednesday at 8pm for an even more enjoyable quiz experience!

ESF quizzes are powered by Philamhor Brewing Co. with beers ‘Born and Brewed In Edinburgh’.
Finally, a HUGE thank you to Edinburgh Street Food for hosting our weekly quiz.
