Oh Ya Fecker
Indeed!

A bit painful!!
So I have injured my ankle. Dodgy steps at the rear entrance to the function suite in Newhall House near Alnwick. Two BIG steps, about 12″ and 16″ with a wooden strip right at the bottom and I was unfortunate enough to put my foot on this when carrying a 40kg flight case. The result was that my foot twisted over and I crumpled into a heap looking at the sole of my shoe with the flight case on top of my leg. It wasn’t fun, to say the least.
I have bought a medical boot from Amazon, these guys have everything, in the hope this helps in my recovery. The bruising you can see in the image has now progressed all the way to my toenails, around my heel and another inch or so up my leg.
Gigs
I have had no choice but to pass on most of my work to other trusted suppliers. I will attempt some smaller events and see how that goes. I still intend to continue with the quizzes since they don’t involve moving loads of kit. Plus, since I am self-employed, I don’t get any help from the government with sickness benefits etc so I HAVE to work. All this just when I am starting to make head roads into the financial mess created by this Covid nonsense!
Going Forward
I am currently in a position where I can hardly get around without crawling, hopefully this will improve quickly. I have no idea if the ankle is broken or if it is ligament damage but I will persevere. I need to keep my movement etc to an absolute minimum until this all passes so I have to introduce new procedures at the quizzes.
Get In Early!
So we can continue the quizzes, and do them in good time, I would like to get every team in as early as possible. Preferably every team should be present and signed into their apps by 1945hrs.
You will no longer be able to automatically connect as I will authorise each team when their entry fees have been paid.
Once every team is logged in, I will start at the top of the scoreboard and call the first team and gradually move down the board until every team has been seen. Each team should send a single person when called who is ready to pay for everything in one go.
This would include entry fees, music bingo entries and the games entry fees. Once this is completed we will begin the quiz. Because I can’t move around I will substitute the buzzer round with a normal round instead. This could be a good opportunity to find a new round and move away from the buzzing round completely, but this will take time.
It would be great if anyone would like to volunteer to help out at the start of the night so we can get through this as quickly as possible. If this is you, then please get in touch.
How Long?
I have no idea if the ankle is broken or not. If not, I expect the healing to be 8-10 weeks. If it is broken this could go on for a few months.
Please be patient and I will try to bring the quizzes to you as smoothly and efficiently as I can. Of course, I do expect copious amounts of banter and slagging but I can live with that, I think.
