Our winning team this week was The Dingles, with the Scrambled Eggheads not far behind in second place. The lead changed a few times during the night and again we had a pretty close finish with the top 5 teams all in with a chance of winning.
The Dingles have been doing well for themselves in recent weeks after some poor performances. They took top position on the league table last week and strengthened their position with a fantastic first place finish this week.
New team this week
One new team this week. 100 percent finished LAST! Right at the bottom of the scoreboard with 962 points, most of which was given to them by the handicap. This could be explained by the sheer noise from their table. Not concentrating on the quiz will always leave you rooted at the bottom. A wee bit less noise next time please. Have fun but please let the other teams play.
Jackpot Winner
The Play Your Cards Right Jackpot is still intact but we had a winner for the Open The Box game.
The first person to try for £620 was unsuccessful but the second player chose the correct ball and won himself, or rather his girlfriend (correct me if I am wrong), £320. Not too bad for a night out! It’s not often you’ll go home with so much cash in your pocket.
The jackpot this week will start at £345, so that is still a good reason to get yourselves down to the Cuddie Brae on Thursday night.
New Jackpot Games Coming Soon
I have invested in two new game software which will be rolling out soon.
Feud is a game of Family Fortunes complete with proper buzzers and digital on-screen board. I am still working out how to work this so as to involve as many teams as possible. One consideration is to have one heat per week on a knock out basis until we have a grand final with a decent prize. Another is to again have one heat per week and store the scores in a league table. After a set period of time, the team at the top of the league will win a decent prize before we reset and start again. Work in progress so it will be a while.
Take It Or Leave It is the American name for Deal Or No Deal. You all know the game and this will roll out as soon as the next Play Your Cards Right jackpot is won.
The player will be chosen the same way we currently choose players but there will be only one player each week until I can assess how the winnings work out. The game has got to be self-supporting. By that, I mean that the entry fees must sustain the prize fund over a period of time, to ensure the bank doesn’t go bust. It may stay at a single player each week but it might also increase to two. We will find out how it goes. The starting main prize will be £50.
This is a good time for new teams to join in!
Back on Thursday at 8pm. If you haven’t been but have been thinking about it, now is the time. The Easter holiday break means we have some tables available and some of our best teams are away for the break.
