Ask anyone who’s played a Premier SpeedQuizzing night what their favourite round is, and the answer is almost always the same: Music Bingo. It’s the round that gets the biggest reaction, creates the most noise, and produces the best moments of the evening. Here’s how it works — and why it consistently steals the show.
What is Music Bingo?
Music Bingo takes the format of traditional bingo and replaces numbers with song clips. Instead of marking off numbers on a card, players mark off songs as they’re played. Get five in a row — or a full house — and you win.
It sounds simple, and it is. But the combination of music, competition, and the bingo format creates something that consistently produces the most energy of any round in a quiz night. The moment someone gets close to a full house, the whole table leans in. When someone shouts “Bingo!” there’s a genuine roar.
How it works at Premier SpeedQuizzing
We use the Hitmix Music Bingo system, which brings the whole thing to life through screens and a powerful audio system. Each player gets a bingo card for each game to play along, this can also be done on their own devices which suits larger venues. As each song clip is played, they tap to mark it off. The system tracks who’s getting close to a line or a full house in real time — which means the host can build the tension as the round progresses.
The music is carefully chosen to be recognisable without being obscure. The idea isn’t to catch people out — it’s to create that brilliant moment where you hear the first two seconds of a song and know exactly what it is before anyone else at the table does.
Why does it work so well?
- It’s genuinely inclusive. You don’t need to know any facts or have any particular knowledge. If you’ve heard the song, you can play.
- The pace is relentless. Clip after clip, with the tension building as people get closer to completing their cards.
- Music triggers emotion. Hearing a song you haven’t thought about in years creates a completely different kind of reaction to answering a factual question.
- Multiple people can win. Lines, then full houses — the celebration is spread across the room rather than concentrated at one table.
Music Bingo at corporate events
Music Bingo works particularly well at corporate events, where you want something that gets everyone involved regardless of their quiz knowledge. It’s a natural icebreaker — people who’ve barely spoken all evening suddenly bond over recognising the same song at the same moment. We’ve run it at corporate events including a recent evening for Lloyds Banking Group at the Scotsman Hotel, and it’s consistently one of the most talked-about parts of the night.
