Three Midlothian venues, three great SpeedQuizzing nights. Here’s what happened recently at The Buccleuch in Dalkeith, The Old Colliery in Danderhall, and David Lloyd Danderhall.
The Buccleuch — Dalkeith
The Buccleuch in Dalkeith is one of the most consistently attended SpeedQuizzing nights in Midlothian. This week’s quiz had a strong field, with several teams clearly having done some invisible preparation between last week and this one. The music round produced the most entertainment — a theme that nobody was expecting but everybody loved once it clicked. The final leaderboard came down to the last question, which is exactly how it should be.

The Old Colliery — Danderhall
The Old Colliery at Danderhall always delivers a proper community quiz night. The regulars here have been competing against each other long enough to know each other’s strengths, which makes for interesting tactics — teams that would normally dominate the general knowledge rounds often find the music and picture rounds levelling things up.
If you’re local to Danderhall, Gilmerton, or Newcraighall, the Old Colliery is a great local quiz. Check upcoming dates →
David Lloyd Danderhall
The David Lloyd monthly quiz draws a slightly different crowd to the pub venues — members and guests who might not be regulars on the quiz circuit but bring genuine competitive instinct once they get going. New players always surprise themselves with how quickly they get up to speed with the SpeedQuizzing format — recently a team that had never played before finished in the top three.
The David Lloyd Danderhall quiz is a great option if you’re a member or if you’re looking for something a bit different. Check upcoming dates →
